Kobo Touch Screen

Touchscreen e-ink ereader vs simple ebook reader, which one to buy ?

Will you trade a touchscreen feature for glares ?, this is what you should be aware of when thinking about getting one of a touchscreen ebook reader. Is touchscreen feature worth it ? By far,  there are around 4 major touchscreen ebook readers that are premium ereaders  : Kobo Touch, Kindle Touch, Sony Reader Wi-Fi and B&N Nook Simple Touch, as well as premium ebook readers : Kindle 4, Kindle 3, Kobo Reader, and Sony Reader. the price of a touchscreen ebook reader is not so expensive than a touchscreen ebook reader, it is just more around 20-30 USD from a none touchscreen one, So I don’t think the added up cost is not a problem, but the question is should you buy a touchscreen ebook reader over a non-touch screen ereader ?

Touchscreen e-ink display technology adds a lot faster navigation with a natural gestures controlling system to your ebook reader by tap, swipe, and pinch, you can use a multi-touch gesture to zoom-in and out when watching photos, zoom in for a web browsing, an onscreen keyboard to take notes while you read, touchscreen & pop up dictionary, and highlight function. I have to say these features make ebook reading more convenient, especially for note taking, highlight, and dictionary and it is very impressive.

So, I think to decide which type of ebook ereader that you should buy, you may need to ask yourself, what is your reading habit ?, do you often make highlights while you read ? or do you often take notes while you read ?, if not, I think a simple ereader like Kindle 4 is good enough with less glare display, but if you love a touchscreen feature, perhaps, glares is what you have to trade in, or you should go with Android tablet that can be used as ereader ?

Kobo Touch Screen : would it be a big rival of Kindle 3 ?

Kindle 3 and Kindle Dx of Amazon have dominant the eReader market for a few year while Sony eReader, Barnes & Noble’s Nook and Kobo have been a big threat and share eReader market. What is new model which has just released? A new Kobo Touch Screen is an E-ink Pearl version with touch screen. It looks similar to Kindle 3 as it has the same size 6′ inch, E-ink Pearl although little bit pricey

When we compare it with Kindle 3 the quality is an advantage factor for eReader customer to decide. Kindle 3 is more advantageous with 8 type of text size differences, adjustable contrast of text, the orientation of landscape and portrait views, text to speech and sudio support. All these feature are impantant for reading. They could not be found in Kobo Touch Screen version.

Some will find it earier to control pages to pages touching the screen, escially reading PDF because you can zoom in and out with buttons on screen or flap the page over. the plus point of Kobo is the content page. It shows all the coverpages of your ebooks and has ability to sorting all titles you have on your library. Kobo offers 3 options of views the content. This makes it easy to find a book as well.
