AKG K271 MKII

My AKG K271 MKII review

If you wonder what is  AKG K271 MKII, it is the predecessor of AKG K702 that has been placed as the studio monitor headphones, with the label “MKII”, this is the re-issue of AKG K271  with the same driver, when taking about professional headphones,   many of music lovers may don’t like and labeled this headphones as flat tone, but in contrast the studio monitor is the best sound for audiophiles and musicians who works at their home. First of all this is the specification of this headphones :

it is a passive noise canceling with the close phones type, with the frequency of 16 Hz – 28 kHz and sensitivity of 91 dB SPL/V, with rated impedance of 55 Ohm, and maximum input power of 200 MW, or on the other hand, this headphones does not work so well with the portable system, like AKG K702, if you want to use this headphones on the go, you may need to find a proper headphone amplifier.

Here are the strong points of AKG K271 MKII specification – it is very easy to wear with the light weight (for the full size) and very soft ear pads, for the noise canceling, this headphones has a switch that it will shutdown the headphones if you remove it from your head ! And will work when you wearing it, very impressive NC !, replaceable ear pads and detachable cable – so you have fun with a modification.

For the sound character of AKG K271 MKII, it offers ample bass, with a good impact, may not good enough for Beats lovers, but for the regular music genre, I think it is good and it doesn’t have a problem of upper bass (that’s very annoying !), the mid tone of K271 MKII is very good, full of details, and for the treble, it may not as good as AKG K702, but it is good for its price ranger, you may notice siblings sometimes. The strong point of K271 is a great focus and wide sound stage. AKG K271 MKII is perfect for any genre, if you are looking for a headphones for your home use, this is the one !  If you are looking for something higher, you may want to try AKG K550 or AKG K702.
